Unique Home Decor for Modern Home
By editor | July 1, 2008
You may not recognize how important decorating a room is, but the decor can say a lot about a person to anyone who is paying careful attention. The manner in which we design our rooms can and does often indicate the things we like and dislike, and also gives a certain indication of our general character. There is the instance in which we design our kitchen storage to appease the practical sides of our character. A person who frequently has hard days at work will likely choose to pick their lounge colors in more neutral shades.
Satin sheets and a red color theme in a bedroom will also give insights into a character, though likely a side that few people will see. As any good modern interior design expert can tell you, it’s essential to keep a fine line between public and private parts of the home. Even when you are entertaining guests at a party, you will not want to allow them access to all parts of the home, and will want to keep parts of it separate and private.
The most luxury is usually given to bedrooms, since their intimate nature means they are the area where people want to spend the most amount of money to make sure that they look as nice as possible. The type of floor decor a homeowner picks will depend on how highly traveled the floor is. As with other types of home decoration, the colors, types, and quality put into the home’s floor can give important clues to the characterization of the individual. Carpets, particularly those that are for the bedroom, look and feel nice in wool, though if you are putting flooring in a hallway or otherwise well traveled area, you are better off choosing something like a hard wearing laminate.
No decor is complete without accessorizing, and the materials you choose for this part of the decorating will let others see what kind of personality you have, unquestionably. The right – or wrong- lighting in a home can make a huge difference in how the home is viewed by other people. A good way to increase visibility, for either practical or aesthetic purposes, is to use spotlights on specific areas. This can be carried through in the way you decorate the rest of your home.
To draw your guests’ attention to certain areas of the room, you can use spotlights and single light fittings. Mood lighting may fit the needs of a minimalist decorator better, however. In short, how you use decor to improve, style and highlight your home reveals a lot more about your character than you might previously have thought possible.
